Wayne E. Claycamp, age 86, of Omaha, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2019, at Hillcrest Shadow Lake nursing home in Papillion, Nebraska.

Wayne was born February 8, 1933, at Havensville, Kansas to Frederick G. and Millie I. (Garrett) Claycamp. 

He graduated from Blue Rapids High School in Blue Rapids, Kansas. 

He married (Clara) Mae Singleton on June 20, 1954 at Blue Rapids, Kansas. After a quick honeymoon to Mexico they moved to Omaha, Nebraska where they lived for 65 years. They were one of three couples where three sisters from the Singleton family married three brothers from the Claycamp family.

Wayne worked at Griffin Tire and Burlington Northern in Omaha for many years, making life-long friends who also enjoyed his love of playing Pitch and relaxing at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Club in Omaha. He then went to school to become a 3rd-grade Engineer and began working as a custodian for the Omaha Public Schools, most of those years at Bancroft Elementary School, retiring in 1998.

Survivors include his wife Clara Mae (Singleton) Claycamp, a son Michael Claycamp (Kim) of Papillion, Nebraska, three daughters: Diana Calabretto, Carolyn Shulo (Bill) & Julie Krejci (Tony) all of Omaha, four brothers: Glenn Claycamp of BR, Fred Claycamp (Ardean) of Omaha, Larry Claycamp (Carol) of BR and Ronald Claycamp (Bette Jo) of Redmond, Oregon. Other survivors include 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Wayne was preceded in death by both parents, Fred and Millie Claycamp, five sisters: Marguerite Mapes, Vesta Hula, Anna Marie Taylor, Verna Eichman and Patricia Frederick, a brother Darrell Claycamp and two sons: Steven Claycamp and Kevin Claycamp.

Viewing is from noon to 8:00 pm Friday, with visitation between 6:30 and 8:00 pm, at Terry-Christie Funeral Home in Waterville. Funeral services are at 10:00 am, Saturday, October 19, 2019, at United Presbyterian Church in Blue Rapids, with Pastor Shannon Borgman officiating. Music is to include “Amazing Grace, My Chains Are Gone” and “Take Me Home Country Road” sung by a duet of Robert and Trinda Chase. The musician is Jan Pope. Casket Bearers include grandsons Terry Calabretto, Jonathan Claycamp, Anthony Krejci, Jeff Shulo, Bill Shulo, Jr, and son-in-law Bill Shulo, Sr. Honorary Bearers include: Jeremy Claycamp, Phoenix Luna, Ethan Sass, Evan Sass, Alexander Jareske, Aiden Benton, Jacob Calabretto, Tanner Shulo, Carter Olson, Bentley Olson, Daxton Olson and Wesson Krejci. Burial is at Prospect Hill Cemetery, north of Blue Rapids. Military Honors provided by the Military Honor’s Detail Fort Leavenworth and the George Bedford Post 169 of the American Legion in Blue Rapids.
