Mona E. Anderson, age 95, of Waterville, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2020, at Blue Valley Senior Living in Blue Rapids.
Mona is the daughter of Enoch L. and Maude E. (Wickstrum) Rundquist and was born in Green, Kansas, on December 30, 1924.
She graduated from Clay Center High School in 1943. Mona married Raymond E. Anderson in Manhattan on March 3, 1945, he passed away in 1993.
Mona was a member of the Waterville United Methodist Church, where she was the church’s secretary for many years. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women, Happy Home Extension Unit, Marshall County Council Member of the Extension Unit, Moose Lodge, Rebekahs, Bridge Club, Coffee Club, Pinochle Club, Hand & Foot Club, Shakespeare Club, Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary and the AARP. She was also a Girl Scout Leader and Supervising Judge on the County Election Board. Mona had a set schedule, she had something going on every day and her calendar was always filled out a month in advance.
Survivors include her four children: Shirley E. (Bob) Bishop of Blue Rapids, Linda J Smerchek of Waterville, Gregory R. (Amy) Anderson of Waterville and Darla (Moby) Dick of Waterville, a brother Veryl Rundquist of Clay Center, five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and one on the way, many nieces and nephews and a daughter-in-law Sheryl Bishop. She loved being with and around all her grandchildren and nieces and nephews, they were all important to her.
Preceding her in death were two grandchildren: Danielle Bishop and Kenneth Bishop, a son-in-law, Dave Smerchek, four brothers: Dean Rundquist, Clede Rundquist, Darrel Rundquist, and Dolan Rundquist, two sisters: Enid Rundquist and Doline Whitney.
Viewing is from noon to 8:00 pm, Thursday, with visitation between 6:30 and 8:00 pm, at Terry-Christie Funeral Home in Waterville. Funeral services are at 11:00 am Friday, February 21, 2020, at the United Methodist Church in Waterville, with Pastor Troy Bowers officiating. Music is to be provided by organist Beverly Hedke and duets by Steve Rundquist and Sue Jones. The duets are “No Disappointment in Heaven” and “Life Is Like A Mountain Railroad”. Casket Bearers are Stan Rundquist, Randy Glenn, Rick Umscheid, Dale Grunwald, Coburn “Hoot” Adkins and Ross Marsh. Burial is at Riverside Cemetery in Waterville.
