Ruth A. Tate, age 71, of Waterville, passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Via Christi Village in Manhattan.Ruth was born April 25, 1947, at Buffalo, Kansas, to Franklin E. and Norma L. (Bishop) Splechter. She attended Fredonia High School graduating in 1965. On April 24, 1967, she married Jimmy L. Tate at Wichita. She worked for Walmart for fifteen years, retiring in October of 2017.She was a member of St. Monica and St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Blue Rapids where she was a member of the Altar Society, worked on the Church Council and had been an instructor for CCD classes. She loved living on the farm. She also enjoyed the times she, Jimmy and the grandkids could go visit Branson and have fun together.Survivors include her husband Jimmy, her two children, Mike Tate of Waterville and Jaime and husband Gary Bowser II, of Sabetha, three grandchildren, two brothers; Chuck Splechter of Buffalo and Earl Splechter of Yates Center, and three sisters; Fran Young of Medina, Texas, Susan Hensley of Meridian, Texas and Nancy Pollman of Humbolt.Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Linda Ashenfelter.Viewing is from noon to 5:00 pm, Tuesday, at Terry-Christie Funeral Home in Waterville. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm, Tuesday, at St. Monica and St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Blue Rapids.Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am, Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at St. Monica and St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Blue Rapids, with Father Daniel Schmitz as the celebrant. Jane Sedlacek is the organist. Hymns include “Here I Am Lord”, “Be Not Afraid” and “How Great Thou Art”. A special musical selection of “Five More Minuets” will be played. Casket Bearers are Ed Bergsten, DeWayne Roepke, Shawn McIntyre, Tom Nelson, William Budenbender and Steve Leiber. Honorary Bearers are Kenny Koch and Brice Heck.
