Robert William “Bill” Shorman, age 80 of Green, Kansas, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2015 at the Leonardville Nursing Home.
He was born on January 10, 1935 in Morganville, Kansas, the son of William Frederick and Lauretta V. (Sumners) Shorman. He graduated from high school in Clay Center.
On February 8, 1959, in Washington, Kansas, he was married to Carol M. Leidig. She survives of the home.
Bill was a farmer and started out as a dairy and hog farmer. He enjoyed restoring tractors and reading magazines about mechanics and farming.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Gene Shorman and wife Debra of McPherson and Rex Shorman of Houston, Texas; one daughter, Ruth Sanders and husband Daren of Minneapolis; two brothers, Don Shorman and wife Barbara of Harrison, Arkansas and Dwaine Shorman and wife Rosalie of Clay Center; two sisters, Mary Jane Arents and husband Harold of Clay Center and Lalla Steenbock and husband Arvin of Tecumseh; four grandchildren, Jonathan Shorman of Lawrence, David Shorman of Manhattan, Lane Sanders of Minneapolis and Carley Sanders of Minneapolis and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Betty Jean Shorman.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at the Leonardville United Methodist Church with Pastor Sandy Ferguson officiating. Music was furnished by Barbara Lee and Jim Olson. Pallbearers were Bruce Dodds, Jim Fisher, Bryce Larson, Dean Larson, Mark Lund and Gary Sylvester. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for Youthville, Northern Riley County Food Basket and Leonardville United Methodist Church Missions. Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley.
