Cheryl Kay Williams, age 80, of Liberal, Missouri, passed away peacefully at Via Christie Village in Pittsburg, Kansas on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 following an extended illness. Cheryl was born on January 14, 1944 in Clay Center, Kansas to the late Harold Black and Olive (Sandberg) Black-Kennedy.
After graduating school in Riley, KS, Cheryl married her sweetheart, Frank Ronald Williams in March of 1962 in Bala, Kansas. Frank survives of the home after many wonderful years together. She was active in many things throughout her lifetime. One to not just stay home, Cheryl was a bookkeeper for many companies throughout the years. Some of those jobs include Safeway Grocery, Sears Catalog Store, Mid-American Dairy and eventually retired from Barton County Hospital in 2009. Her greatest job would be raising her family as a homemaker.
Cheryl’s faith was very important to her and her love for the Lord was very prevalent in all she did. She attended Congregational Church and Community Bible Church in Sabetha, Kansas, before eventually moving to Liberal and became a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Lamar, Missouri. Other activities that Cheryl enjoyed would include baking birthday cakes for family, camping and even enjoyed doing laundry but hated housekeeping. She would be found often outside working in her gardens, attending garage sales and working in the shop refinishing old furniture.
Those left to honor Cheryl’s life include her husband, Frank; daughter, Pam Baldridge (Rodney) of Liberal; son, Todd Williams (Sherry) of Smithville, Missouri; sisters, Oliva Foster (Mike) of Springfield, MO and Melodie Bateman of Collinsville, Oklahoma; brother, Chris Kennedy (Alyssa) of Monett, MO; brother in-laws, Bob Williams (Diana) of Manhattan, Kansas and Richard Williams (Edna) of Junction City, Kansas; 5 grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.
