Dale M. Wohler

Dale Malcolm Wohler, age 95 of Randolph, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Via Christi Hospital. He was born on July 1, 1920 at Winkler, Kansas, the son of Arthur and Dora (Baird) Wohler. On June 30, 1941 he was married to Margie Peter at her family’s home on Fancy Creek Road, west of Randolph. She survives of the home. Dale was a farmer his entire life. In the early years, he farmed with his dad and brothers in the Fancy Creek area, as well as helping out many neighbors. He would later move to the Peach Grove community and operated a Grade A Dairy for 34 years. During all of these years of farming, he saw and experienced a lot of changes. He went from using horses to very technical machinery. In the 50‘s due to weather and crop failure, Dale worked for Sheldon Implement Co. in Randolph, putting together and delivering machinery, helped Ray Beckman in his plumbing business in old Randolph and ran Paul Brenner’s milk truck delivering milk to Manhattan. His love was his animals and the farm. He was a member of the Fancy Creek United Methodist Church where he served on many offices and committees. He also served on the Farm Bureau Board in Riley County, Greenleaf COOP Board, Peach Grove and Randolph School Boards and Fancy Creek Cemetery Board, where he kept the cemeteries mowed. He was great to his neighbors and community and willing to lend a helping hand during harvest and hard times. Dale was devoted to his family. While his sons were home, they were involved in the local Saddle Clubs and rode their ponies in races. He was a 4-H leader, played softball for a number of years and enjoyed watching his sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren play in various sports. He also enjoyed following the Royals, K-State and women’s college basketball. He enjoyed watching things grow and after he retired from farming he was usually growing a big garden. After he sold his dairy in 1986, Margie and him loved many bus tours where they met many friends. He is survived by his wife Margie of 74 1/2 years; five sons, Dennis Wohler and Margaret of Manhattan, Raymond Wohler and Carmen of Liberty, MO; Steven Wohler and Sharon of Neodesha; Stanley Wohler of Randolph and Roger Wohler and Cara of Manhattan; one brother, Kenneth Wohler; two sisters, Faye Sexton and Irene Wohler; 12 grandchildren and their spouses; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one step-brother, Edward Buss and two step-sisters, Luella Dick and Leota Ester. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Eldon and Marvin Wohler; one sister, Shirley Samuelson and one step-brother, Marvin Buss. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, January 9, 2016 at the Fancy Creek Zion United Methodist Church with Pastors Sandy Ferguson and Kevin Larson officiating. Respect calls may be made anytime Friday at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:00 P.M. Friday. Burial will be in the Fancy Creek Randolph Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the Fancy Creek Randolph Cemetery to go to improvements at Fancy Creek Randolph, Peach Grove and Fancy Creek Zion Cemeteries. Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
