David Hogan

David L. Hogan, age 64, of Blue Rapids passed away at his home on Tuesday, February 27, 2024.

David was born on April 14, 1959, at Fort Riley, to Clarence J. and Wilma J. (Nemechek) Hogan. On April 1, 1985, he married Verna “Sue” Scaggs at South of the Boarder in North Carolina.  Sue passed away in 2013.

During his years with his bride they had many adventures. They worked as Carnival workers in Texas. They enjoyed being volunteer workers in a renaissances fair, dressing the part and living in a tent during the summer before coming back to Waterville for a short time to work at Landolls. They moved to Beatrice Neb where Sue passed away and David found his love for caring for others earning his CNA and returning to Blue Rapids where he worked for Blue Valley Health and Rehab.

Survivors include his siblings James (Susan) Hogan, Roxanne (Allen) Nugent, and Patty (Rick) Moeller all of Waterville, Karen (Roger) Hunter of Topeka, Patrick (Gayla) Hogan of Marysville, and Scott (Tammy) Hogan of Columbus, Nebraska.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Wilma, and by his wife Sue.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, from noon and 2:00 pm, at the Waterville Community Center.  A private inurnment will follow at a later date.
