Delores Gene Gillespie, age 93, of Pacific Junction, IA, died September 17, 2016, at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA.
She was born June 17, 1923, in Randolph, the daughter of Oscar and Anna (Daniels) Burgman.
She married Clyde Leroy Gillespie on February 6, 1943 in Manhattan after knowing each other for three days. They were blessed with five children. For much of their lives (45 years), Delores and Clyde were self-employed truck drivers, traveling through all fifty states and several Canadian provinces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Anna Burgman; her husband Clyde Gillespie; two sisters Shirley Duensing and Joann Fluharty and one brother, John Burgman
She is survived by one daughter, Lora Gene Barker of Superior, Wisconsin; four sons, Jerry Gillespie and wife Teresa of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Clyde Gillespie, Jr. and wife April of Hastings, Iowa, Terry Gillespie and wife Amy of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Shawn Gillespie and wife Tracy of Treynor, Iowa; six siblings, Harold Burgman and wife Marg of Leonardville; Leo Burgman of Leonardville; Val Dean (Ferd) Burgman of Riley; Judy Springer and husband Robert of Hanover; Sharon Harding of Leonardville and Sandy Rightmeier and husband Charles of Randolph; 18 grandchildren,19 great-grandchildren and many friends.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 pm on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Randolph Fancy Creek Cemetery north of Randolph with Pastor Kevin Larson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:00 pm on Wednesday at Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley.
A memorial has been established for the Delores Gillespie Memorial Fund and may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
