Doris Imogene Springer, age 82 of Manhattan, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Via Christi Village in Manhattan.
She was born on her family farm west of Clay Center on October 9, 1933, the daughter of Guy William and Ethel May (Chayer) Fyfe. She spent her younger years on a farm near Oak Hill and graduated from Clay County Community High School.
On January 18, 1951 on a farm near Brewster, Kansas, she was married to Gyle D. “Bud” Springer. He survives of the home.
She was the manager of the jewelry department at K-Mart in Manhattan. She was a member of the V.F.W., Eagles and American Business Women’s Association.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Robert Springer and Kelly of Manhattan and Tim Springer and Cindy of Manhattan; one daughter, Jan McManis of Manhattan; two brothers, Oliver Fyfe and Anna of Levant and John Fyfe and Nadine of Overland Park; one sister, Emily Henderson of Odessa, Texas; six grandchildren, Carrie Bramlett, Daniel Springer and Nicole, Billy Springer, Corey Springer, Amanda Springer and Kevin McManis; six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Michael Douglas Springer and a son-in-law, Mac McManis.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, October 23, 2015 at the Carnahan Creek Cemetery with Pastor Kevin Larson officiating. Respect calls may be made anytime Thursday at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday evening.
A memorial has been established for the Doris Springer Memorial Fund. Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
