Dorothy Mae Peterson, age 91 of Riley, passed away Monday, March 6, 2017 at her residence.
She was born on September 26, 1925 on a farm near Toronto, Kansas, the daughter of of Carl August and Hedvig Charlotte (Toburen) Schreiber.
On December 12, 1948, she was married to Warren W. Peterson. He preceded her in death in 1998.
Dorothy was a homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her family, reading, doing word puzzles, embroidery and baking. She was a member of the Riley Presbyterian Church, Riley Senior Citizens and volunteered at the Riley City Library.
She is survived by four sons, Charles Peterson of Riley, Dean Peterson and wife Alex of Wamego, Bernie Peterson of Wamego and Jay Peterson and wife Jean of Leonardville; two daughters, Jeanette Kidwell and husband Randy of Clay Center and Roxie Baer and husband Dwight of Clay Center; one brother, James Schreiber and wife Joan of Buena Park, California; two sisters-in-law, Berniece Schreiber of Concordia and Donna Schreiber of Kansas City, Missouri; 13 grandchildren, Monica Peterson, Matt Peterson and wife Shanell, Carly Kidwell, Caleb Kidwell, Katie Kidwell, Seth Peterson, Jared Peterson and wife Rachael, Edward Peterson, Ryan Peterson and wife Amy, Rorik Peterson, Reed Maxwell, Rachael Mae Kunze Peterson and Margaret Ann Baer; five great grandchildren, Harley Jo Cragg, Dalton Cragg, Breighton Besa, Malerie Peterson and Wylan Peterson; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Helen Carter; three brothers, Arvon (Bud), Robert (Bob) and Dale Schreiber; one brother-in-law, Earl Carter and one sister-in-law, Bertie Schreiber.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the Riley Presbyterian Church with Pastor Kevin Larson officiating. Respect calls may be made anytime Friday at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in the Crooked Creek Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the Riley Presbyterian Church Scholarship Fund. Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
