Dwaine L. Mellies, age 76 of Clay Center, Kansas, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2015 at the Clay County Medical Center.
He was born on September 15, 1938 in Clay Center, the son of Lawrence and Isabelle (Robinson) Mellies. He grew up in Morganville and graduated from Morganville High School.
On June 7, 1959 in Clay Center, he married Glenda L. Milligan. She preceded him in death on February 27, 2004.
He farmed in the Morganville community and was a member of the Kansas Army National Guard. He attended Clay Center United Methodist Church and was a member of the Konza Connection in Manhattan. He enjoyed dancing, gardening and animals.
He is survived by four sons, Jeff Mellies and Connie of Silver Lake, Chris Mellies and Libby of Clay Center, Rodney Mellies and Lisa of Benton, Kentucky and Patrick Mellies of Shawnee; 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and his companion, Linda Broderson.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jody Sue Mellies and one son, Gregory Lynn Mellies.
Graveside inurnment services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Greenwood Cemetery in Clay Center.
