Evelyn Arlene Davies, age 92 of Leonardville, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at the Leonardville Nursing Home.
She was born on October 12, 1923 on the family farm outside of Leonardville, the daughter of Elmer and Hulda (Norell) Johnson. She graduated from Leonardville Rural High School in 1941.
On April 18, 1945, she was married to Martin F. Davies. He preceded her in death August 25,1986.
Evelyn was a bookkeeper at the Leonardville Farmer’s Union Coop in her early married years and then a farmwife. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and enjoyed helping with the Leonardville Senior Citizens’ dinners.
She is survived by two sons, Wayne Davies of Leonardville and Donald Davies of Clay Center; two daughters, Elaine Heller and Eldo of Riley and Kaye Klucas and Fred of Leonardville; nine grandchildren, Kim Schurle (Pat) of Green, Lori Strauss (Josh) of Junction City, Lisa Heller of Manhattan, Adam Davies (Lydia) of Leonardville, Alicia Klucas (Mouhamadou Wilane) of Leonardville, Kristen Fisher (Jake) of Wichita, Kelsey Klucas of Manhattan , Alan Pultz (Nicole) of Onaga and Lori Haresnape (Theron) of Smith Center; 14 great grandchildren, Alexis, Lane, William, April, Arthur, AJ, Ibrahim, Cora, Willow, Isaac, Autumn, Adalynne, Cauy and Colton.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, June 24, 2016 at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley with Rev. D. Erich Schwartz officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Bala Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for Big Lakes Developmental Center. Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
