Fern Florence Berggren, age 88, of Leonardville, Kansas, died Thursday, August 2, 2012, at The Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan, Kansas.
She was born December 19, 1923, at Randolph, Kansas, the daughter of William and Martha (Weber) Hagenmaier.
She was a devoted homemaker and was a longtime member of the Walsburg Lutheran Church. She was married June 15, 1947, at the Walsburg Lutheran Church to Robert Allen Berggren. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her parents, four brothers, Oswin, Ralph, Arthur and Earl Hagenmaier and two grandchildren, Christine and Nathan Schurle.
She is survived by four daughters, Sheri Storer and husband Harold of Plano, Texas, Martha Berggren and husband Scott Hall of Kearney, Missouri, Roberta Hartford and husband Lee of Manhattan, Kansas and Brenda Schurle and husband Doug of Green, Kansas; one sister, Maxine Peter and husband Kenneth; five grandchildren Scott Storer and wife Kritika of Highland Park, Illinois, Heather Storer of Plano, Texas, Andrew Galloway of Dallas, Texas, Tyler and Cheyanne Schurle of Green, Kansas and two great grandsons Kai and Wyatt Storer of Highland Park, Illinois.
Funeral services were held on Monday, August 6, 2012, at the Walsburg Lutheran Church northeast of Leonardville, Kansas, with Rev. Keith Wiens officiating. Music was furnished by Russell Peterson and Rhonda Baer. Pallbearers were Harold Storer, Scott Hall, Lee Hartford, Doug Schurle, Scott Storer and Andrew Galloway. Burial was in the Walsburg Cemetery. The Holmes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley, Kansas was in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established for the Walsburg Lutheran Church and for The Good Shepherd Hospice House.
