General “GB” Johnson, age 65 of Wakefield, Kansas, died Saturday, October 12, 2013 at his residence.
He was born on January 3, 1948 in Cartersville, Georgia, the son of Raymond Bill and Myrtle Ruth (Darley) Johnson.
GB owned and operated Johnson’s Portable Toilet Service. He served 24 years in the U.S. Army and retired as Sargent First Class. While in the Army he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal in Korea and many other awards and honors. He was a member of V.F.W. 7774 and enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming and spending time with his family.
On July 13, 1979, he was married to Angie S. Johnson. She survives of the home.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, James E. Johnson of Mobile, Alabama; one daughter, Jennifer A. Johnson of Wakefield, Kansas; four sisters, Annette Wright and husband David of Jackson, Alabama, Pauline Walker and husband Cecil of Jackson, Alabama, Darlene Williams and husband Garry of Wagarville, Alabama and Billie Ann Sellers and husband Mike of Wagarville, Alabama; two special family members, Pamela Curtis of Chapman, Kansas and Otis Channell of Cartersville, Georgia and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Danny Joe Johnson.
A memorial service with military honors was held on Friday, October 18, 2013 at the Madura Congregational Church in Wakefield with Pastor Todd Britt officiating.
