Gregory Harmon Free, age 67 of Clay Center, passed away Monday, June 20, 2022 at his residence.
He was born on April 9, 1955 in Emporia, the son of Jesse William and Alma Marie (Chase) Free. He graduated from Junction City High School in 1973.
In his early working years, he lived in Ark City, working at Cessna Aircraft, Hanes Concrete and the City of Ark City working as an animal control officer. He moved to Junction City in 1990 and worked for Rolling Meadows Golf Course, the Junction City Daily Union as a pressman and Jim Clark Auto in the bodyshop. He was a lover of animals.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Dianna Free of Clay Center; one niece, Kimberly Harding and husband Todd of Clay Center; one nephew, Kerry Free, Jr. and wife Jennifer of Randolph; two great nieces, Morgan Free and Jessie Free, both of Clay Center; three great nephews, Charles Harding and family, Brandon Harding and family and Jake Harding and family; and his cat, Nicodemus.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Karol Free and Karen Free and one brother, Kerry Free.
Cremation is planned with private family burial at a later date. The Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Clay County Animal Rescue and Education Center and left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
