Harold Bierbaum, age 93 of Barnes, Kansas passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at the Linn Community Nursing Home.
He was born on December 27, 1921 on the family farm at Barnes, Kansas, the son of George and Amelia (Hadde) Bierbaum.
He was a lifetime farmer in the Barnes community. He also served in the occupation troops for the U.S. Army in Italy after the war.
He was a member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church where he was the Sunday School superintendent for 30 years and sang in the choir.
He is survived by a sister in law, Annabell Bierbaum of Riley; two nephews, David Bierbaum and Pat of Dalhart, Texas and Edward Bierbaum and Donna of Camdenton, Missouri; three nieces, Ann Usher of Amarillo, Texas, Betty Wiemers and Jerry of Washington and Gayle Stockwell of Riley; and by his many great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by eight brothers, Henry, Fred, Otto, Lawrence, John, Martin, Merrill and one infant brother; one sister, Alvina Bierbaum and two nephews, Walter and Paul Bierbaum.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the St. Peter Lutheran Church south of Barnes with Rev. Rodney Fritz officiating. Respect calls may be made anytime Friday at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 P.M. Friday. Burial will be in the St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for the St. Peter Lutheran Church and the Barnes Cafe. Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley, Kansas.
