Harold Eugene Nibarger, age 83 of Manhattan, Kansas, died Sunday, September 22, 2013, at the Robert J. Dole VAMC Hospice Unit in Wichita, Kansas.
He was born on October 14, 1929, in Virgil, Kansas, the son of Wayne and Elva (Cunningham) Nibarger. He was married to Ernestine Dehlinger on November 26, 1952, in Wichita, Kansas. She preceded him in death on August 15, 2009.
Harold was a teacher at Thayer and Madison schools and a principal at Morrowville - North Central High School and Blue Valley Randolph schools. He retired in 1988. He was a member of the NEA, American Legion, Mason Lodge and the Methodist Church. He also served in the United States Air Force.
He is survived by a son, Richard Nibarger and wife Michelle of Towanda, Kansas; a daughter, Nancy Galloway of Castro Valley, California and four grandchildren, Andie and Jessie Nibarger of Towanda, Kansas and Tyler and Bailey Galloway of Castro Valley, California.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Melissa Nibarger; one brother, Don Nibarger and one sister Gladys McKee.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley, Kansas with Pastor David Gibbs officiating. A private family burial was in the Virgil Cemetery in Virgil, Kansas.
Memorials have been established for the Veteran’s Administration Hospice Unit and the Circle Educational Foundation`. Memorial contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley, Kansas.
