Jim D. Johnson, age 68 of Olsburg, Kansas died Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at his farm south of Olsburg.
He was born on January 2, 1946 in Westmoreland, Kansas, the son of Alciede Lavern “A.L.” and Dorothy Marie (Novak) Johnson. He graduated from Blue Valley High School in Randolph in 1964. He then entered the U.S. Army in 1966 and served in Vietnam before being honorably discharged in 1968.
He was married to Reona Jo Green on September 29, 1968 at Olsburg, Kansas. She survives of the home.
Jim was a heavy equipment operator. He worked for Reno Construction, Swanson Construction, Eberts Construction and Bayers Construction, retiring in 2011. He loved farming and mechanical work. He enjoyed drinking coffee with his friends and was always the first to arrive, whether it was work or coffee. He was a member of the Olsburg Lutheran Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Janel Finan and Leo of Blaine; one son, Kenny Johnson and Lauri of Olsburg; five brothers, Bob Johnson and Janet of Topeka, Tom Johnson and Mary of St. Mary’s, Bill Johnson of Olsburg, Rick Johnson and Irene of Olsburg and Terry Johnson of Olsburg; one sister, Sherry Quigley and George of Blaine; eight grandchildren, Amallissa Johnson, Kenny Johnson, Jr., Joseph Dean Johnson, Levi Johnson, Genesis Johnson, Luke Johnson, Revel Ann Johnson and Maggie Finan; a great grandson on the way and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two nephews, Scott Johnson and Cody Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the Olsburg Lutheran Church with Pastor Gordon L. Sandquist officiating. Respect calls may be made anytime Friday at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 7-8:00 P.M. Friday evening. Burial will be in the Olsburg Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the Olsburg City Park and Pool. Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral in Riley, Kansas.
