Joan Mildred Giuliano (Joni), age 83, of Wakefield and formerly of Manhattan, stepped into eternity Friday, September 27, 2024, with comfort and support at Wakefield Care and Rehab.
Joni was born on July 11, 1941 in San Diego, California, the daughter of Irwin & Stella (LaMay) Walch.
Joni lived her life a devout and prayerful Christian. Her father’s service in the Navy brought the family to various locations in early childhood, ultimately to grow up in Syracuse, NY. She married and raised her children as a military spouse, traveling along the eastern coast and as far away as Germany. In each location she joined local church congregations and made new friends.
Joni enjoyed exceptional ability as a seamstress, making clothes for her family as well as many crafts. She further expressed her creative nature through writing, both poetry and prose.
Joni was an avid reader of the Bible as well as many other genres. She enjoyed every opportunity to embrace the beauty of God’s creation while exploring different locales. In her retirement years, her faithful 4-legged companion, Poppy, was always by her side. Her circle of friends, including her sister-in-Christ Bonnie Brown and daughter-in-Christ Sherry Rochek, provided great companionship with laughter, conversation and prayer.
Joni is survived by her three daughters, Theresa Billow-Supple, Karen Connor, and Mary Beth Molinatti, six grandchildren, Jeremy, Kimberly, Maegan, Jeffrey, Jonathon and Stephanie, and two great-grandsons, Nicholas and Devin. She is also survived by her three sisters, Mary Agnes Nottleman, Anita Chemotti, Patricia Helmer and many nieces and nephews.
Joni was preceded in death by her parents, and two daughters Allison and Stephanie, and her beloved dog Poppy.
Cremation is being handled by the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home. Memorial Contributions may be made to Samaritans Purse, and left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
