Joanne Francis Garrett, age 88 of Clay Center, Kansas, passed away Monday, March 23, 2015 at Stormont-Vail Healthcare in Topeka.
She was born on October 14, 1926 in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of John Patrick and Nina (Vanstrom) Brady.
Joanne worked as a secretary for Hutchinson Mayrath and as a language transcriber for Literacy and Evangelism International. She was a member of Victory Christian Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was also involved with Bridges for Peace and Kansans for Life. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, computer games, genealogy and giving everyone evangelistic literature.
She is survived by one son, Roy Garrett and wife Theresa of Westmoreland; three daughters, Teresa (Tere) Richter and husband Carroll of Clay Center, Mary Martin of Curtis, Arkansas and Bridget Colp and husband Randy of Wakefield; fourteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her six siblings, Bernice, Dorothy, Harold, Geraldine, Eloise and Mary Jane.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2015 at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley with Pastor Scott Campbell officiating. Respect calls may be made anytime Wednesday, where the family will receive friends from 7 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery, south of Green, Kansas.
A memorial has been established for Kansans for Life. Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley.
