Margaret Lucille Richter, age 93, of Leonardville, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2016 at the Leonardville Nursing Home.
She was born on November 14, 1922 on the family farm near Randolph, the daughter of Bismark and Mabel (Gustafson) Haller.
On April 12, 1948 at St. Peter Lutheran Church she was married to Elver L. Richter. He preceded her in death on September 2, 2013.
She was a homemaker and farm wife and devoted to her family. She enjoyed dancing on Saturday nights with Elver. She was a member of the St. Peters Lutheran Church, Altar Guild and Ladies Aid, Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
She is survived by three sons, Jerry Richter and wife Isabel of Mankato, Ronnie Richter and wife Sheryl of Green and Mark Richter and wife Jeanne of Leonardville; a sister-in-law, Betty Sump of Clay Center; eight grandchildren, Corey Richter and wife Lynn, Lori Gillihan, Dustin Richter and wife Colby, Jill Whitney and husband Justin, Jamie Duitsman and husband Cody, Bryce Williams, Brooke Richter and Brianna Richter and 15 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Gaylen Haller, Melvin Haller and Loren Haller and one sister, Viola Haller.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, March 3, 2016 at the St. Peter Lutheran Church south of Barnes with Rev. Rodney Fritz officiating. Respect calls may be made anytime Wednesday at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday. Burial will be in the St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for St. Peter Lutheran Church and Leonardville Nursing Home. Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
