Marian L. Hopper, age 88 of Randolph, Kansas, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2015 at the Leonardville Nursing Home.
She was born on December 6, 1926 in Frankfort, Kansas, the daughter of Albert Preston and Virginia (Horton) Shineman.
On February 8, 1948 in Frankfort, she was married to Kenneth E. Hopper. He preceded her in death on April 9, 2002.
Marian taught school for a few years before she was married. After her marriage, she became a homemaker and a farmer’s wife. She was a member of the Randolph United Methodist Church and enjoyed sewing, gardening and arranging flowers.
She is survived by two sons, Greg Hopper and Janet of Leonardville and Garth Hopper and Teresa of Leonardville; one brother, Alan Shineman and Marilyn of Manhattan; two sisters, Sharon Bollinger and Mack of Lakewood, Colorado and Susann Ellinger and George of Wichita; six grandchildren, Jared Hopper and Jenee of Riley, Ben Hopper of Manhattan, Daniel Hopper of Manhattan, Heather Poore and Craig of Alton, Amber Hopper of Kansas City, Missouri and Kenny Hopper of Wamego; five great grandchildren, Bryan, Brett and Natalie Hopper and Addison and Zane Poore and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Gary Dale Shineman.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, May 11, 2015 at the Randolph United Methodist Church with Pastor Sandy Ferguson officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 until 6:00 P.M. Sunday at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley. Burial will be in Frankfort Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established for the Randolph United Methodist Church. Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley.
