Marjorie Faye Whearty, age 88 of Randolph, Kansas passed away Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the Leonardville Nursing Home.
She was born on April 21, 1926 at Randolph, the daughter of August Henry and Lena Kathleena (Wohler) Klocke. She graduated from Barnes High School.
On June 18, 1954 she was married to William Whearty. He survives of the home.
Marjorie was a bank teller for nine years in the town of Old Randolph. She then devoted her time to raising her four children. She adjusted to farm life when her husband, Bill, moved the family to the farm in 1967, and took on the many duties required as chore woman for 47 years. She was an avid quiltmaker and gardener and made sure there was an abundance of homemade treats for her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Robert Whearty and Jennifer of Randolph; three daughters, Beverly Parker and Robert of Breckenridge, Missouri, Judy Havens and John of Wamego and Joyce Carr and Mike of Buena Vista, Colorado; 13 grandchildren, Matthew Johnson, Ryan Parker, Bradley Carr, Christopher Carr, Daniel Carr, Logan Whearty, Robyn Penney, Jessica Fulkerson, Jill Arnold, Jana Havens, Megan Whearty, Savannah Hiatt and Emily Anderson and 12 great grandchildren, Blayde, Baylee and Xyler Johnson, Autumn, Brayden and Zackary Parker, Anna and Matthew Carr, Jaidyn, Tristyn and Westyn Whearty and Riley Paige Hiatt.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Kathryn Berger and two brothers, Earl Klocke and Elston Klocke.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the Zion Fancy Creek United Methodist Church with Pastors Sandy Ferguson and Kevin Larson officiating. Respect calls may be made anytime Friday at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley. The family will receive friends from 7 - 8 P.M. Friday evening. Burial will be in the Zion Fancy Creek Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for Zion Fancy Creek Cemetery. Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley, Kansas.
