Merlin Dale Kopfer, age 89 of Clay Center, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Medicalodge in Clay Center.
He was born on October 8, 1925 in Clay Center, the son of August and Vera Ethel (Sherbert) Kopfer. He was a dairyman and loved playing cards, square dancing, tractor pulls and watching Nascar races.
On July 3, 1946 in Manhattan, he was married to Alberta May Tessendorf. She survives of Clay Center.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Larry Kopfer and wife Eunice of Clay Center; one daughter, Nancy Gonser and husband David of Clay Center; six grandchildren, Michelle and Kelli Kopfer, Dale Kopfer and wife Diana, Courtney and Jacob Grater and Bryan Gonser and seven great grandchildren, McCanna and Nakota Kopfer, Cloe Grater, Brooklynn Hiebert, MacKenzie and Garrison Grater and Tanner Kling.
He was preceded in death by his sister, LaVone Kopfer.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley with Pastor Kevin Larson officiating. Respect calls may be made anytime Monday, where the family will receive friends from 7 until 8:00 P.M. Monday. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Clay Center.
Memorial funds have been established for Meadowlark Hospice and American Parkinson’s Disease Association. Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley.
