Nancy Steel

Nancy Jo Steel, age 73 of Riley, passed away Thursday, August 10, 2023 at her residence.

She was born on May 12, 1950 in Blue Rapids, the daughter of Leroy Bert and Gertrude Aldena (Schreiner) Sutton.

On December 3, 1966 she married Marvin Lee Steel in the Blue Rapids United Methodist Church.

Nancy worked as a CNA and in the laundry department at the Leonardville Nursing Home and at the Calico Inn as a waitress and cook.  She also helped Marvin with bridge construction.  She was very sociable and a member of the Eagles and Moose Lodges.  She enjoyed doing anything artistic.

She is survived by her husband, Marvin Steel of Riley; two daughters, Brenda Steel Marshall and husband Frank of Rowlett, Texas and Giggit Rena’ Peterson of Branson, Missouri; three grandchildren, Nicole Myers, Brooke Myers and Franklin Marshall, and one great grandson, Leon Myers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Patsy Ann Sutton and one brother, Richard Sutton.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 13, 2023 at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 14, 2023 in the Riley Cemetery with Pastor Kevin Larson officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Nancy Steel Memorial Fund to be designated by the family at a later date.  Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
