Randy L. Chilson, age 52, of Blue Rapids, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Randy was born March 7, 1972, in Marysville, to George W. and Nancy K. (Gronquist) Chilson. He graduated from Valley Heights High School in 1991. When he was young he started working on the family dairy farm with his Uncle Jim Gronquist; he always enjoyed the cattle and his Uncle Jim. Randy also had several other jobs over the years, mainly driving semis and as a welder for Sharp’s Manufacturing.
Randy had been a member of the Boy Scouts when he was young. He enjoyed country cruising, going mudding, fishing, country music and driving big trucks. He also loved “celebrating” with his family and friends. What they celebrated mattered less than the celebration.
Survivors include his four children: Randall Chilson of Manhattan, Jerome (Randi) Chilson of Lincoln, Nebraska, Garrett (Destanie) Pracheil of Dorchester, Nebraska and Aandrea (Michael) Chilson of Coffeyville, his mother, Nancy (Arnie) Bergsten of Humboldt, Nebraska, brothers and sisters: Scott (Paula) Chilson, Ronda Chilson, Libby (TJ) Crook, all of Blue Rapids, and Michelle (Dan) Gast of Ottawa, five grandchildren: Carter, Kensley, Brantlee, Stryker and Jayla, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding Randy in death is his father George Chilson, his Uncle Jim Gronquist and several other aunts and uncles.
Viewing is from noon to 8:00 pm, Friday, March 7th, at Christie-Anderes Funeral Home in Waterville.
Funeral services are planned for 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 8, 2025, at the Blue Rapids United Methodist Church, with Pastor Derek Slack officiating. A congregational hymn of “Amazing Grace” will be sung. Casket Bearers include: Jerome Chilson, Randall Chilson, Scott Chilson, Mike Chilson, Eben Guerin, Garrett Pracheil, Jimmy Flower and TJ Franssen. Honorary Bearers are Carter, Kensley, Brantlee, Stryker, Jayla, Michael and Dan. Burial will follow at Fairmont Cemetery, in Blue Rapids.
Memorials are suggested to Be Able, a homeless shelter in Manhattan, and may be sent in care of Christie-Anderes Funeral Home at PO Box 61, Waterville, Kansas 66548.
