Raymond Leslie Peter, age 91 of Manhattan, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2016 at the Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan.
He was born in Manhattan on May 31, 1925, the son of George Leslie and Laura M. (Ostergard) Peter. He graduated from Keats High School and farmed with his father until 1951 and then went to work for Boeing in Wichita and retired in 1987.
He married Cora Hendrixson on October 2, 1981. She preceded him in death in 2007.
He was a member of the Keats United Methodist Church and Keats Seniors. He liked to hunt and fish and enjoyed playing softball and basketball in his youth and bowling in his later years.
He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn Suzann Jarchow and Gary of Derby; five grandchildren, Theodore, Tiffany, Benjamin, Patrick and Alexander; four great grandchildren, Kerry, Colin, Allyson and Blake; a niece, Patricia Klahn and a nephew Tom Jones.
In addition to his wife, he preceded in death by his sister, Viola Jones.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 3, 2017 at the Keats United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Eisele officiating. Respect calls may be made anytime Tuesday at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley. A visitation will be from 7 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday. Burial will be in the Randolph Fancy Creek Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the Keats United Methodist Church. Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley.
