Ruby M. Pollard, age 96 formerly of Junction City, Kansas, died Monday, March 4, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Wakefield, Kansas.
She was born on November 27, 1916 on her parent’s farm outside of Riley, Kansas, the daughter of Charles T. and Sophia (Riniker) Chapman. She was the last surviving graduate of Riley High School’s class of 1933.
She worked as a clerk for Allen’s Market in Junction City and later helped her husband by doing bookwork for their pump truck business.
On November 22, 1956 at Junction City, she was married to Marion “Doc” Pollard. He preceded her in death on December 29, 2005.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Chapman.
She is survived by two sons, Charles Peterson of Junction City, Kansas and Frederick Peterson and wife Charlene of Denver, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on March 13, 2013 at the Riley Presbyterian Church with Rev. Erich D. Schwartz and Pastor Kevin Larson officiating. Burial was in the Riley Cemetery, east of Riley, Kansas.
