Sharon K. Steenson, age 83, of Waterville, passed away surrounded by family on Monday, October 28, 2024, at Community Memorial Health Care in Marysville.
Sharon was born on July 6, 1941, in Oketo, to Casper E. and Grace (Sperry) Burger. She graduated from Waterville High School in 1959. On September 3, 1960, she married Melvin J. Steenson at the Methodist Church in Waterville. He passed away in 2015.
Sharon worked and served many years in Waterville, along with her good friend Sandy Harding, she owned Fancy T’s. Together they made and sold decorated shirts. She also managed the Weaver Hotel for many years. From 1986 to 1996, she was the Director, and an EMT, for the Waterville Ambulance Service. She was a member of the Waterville United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, was active with the Waterville Chamber of Commerce and had served on the Victorian Days Committee, she was also a member of the Weaver Hotel Preservation Society, the Pinochle Club and Lions Club.
Sharon was a beloved Mom, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and friend who will be missed by many. She enjoyed traveling with her friends and being involved in the community. Above all, family was her greatest love.
Survivors include her three sons: Barry (Jennifer) Steenson of Topeka, Brad (Rachael) Steenson of McPherson and Rodney “Bosh” (Amy) Steenson of Waterville, a sister Bonnie (Bill) Wallace of Topeka, twelve grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Preceding Sharon in death were her parents, Casper and Grace, her husband Melvin and an infant twin sister Karen.
Viewing is from noon to 8:00 pm, Friday, November 1, 2024, with visitation between 6:00 and 8:00 pm, at Christie-Anderes Funeral Home in Waterville.
Funeral services are at 3:00 pm, Saturday, November 2, 2024, at the Waterville United Methodist Church, with Pastor Derek Slack officiating. “The Old Rugged Cross” will be sung by Marsha Taylor and Alvin Roepke, accompanied by Beverly Hedke. Casket Bearers are Travis Steenson, Ethan Steenson, Wyatt Steenson, Evan Herrera, Matt Meyer and Joshua Sanner. Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery in Waterville.
Memorials are suggested to the Sharon Steenson Memorial, to be determined later, and may be sent in care of Christie-Anderes Funeral Home at PO Box 61, Waterville, Kansas 66548.
