Steven Kent Weis, age 58 of Wamego, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at the Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan.
He was born on January 5, 1966, in Junction City, the son of Lawrence Eugene and Gwendolyn Elaine (Witcher) McCurry. He graduated from Riley County High School in 1984. He participated in all sports in middle school and high school and was known for his football skills and his pranks.
He married Waneta Ann Matthews on March 9, 2024. They had known each other since second grade.
Most of his working career was as a general contractor, building many houses across Kansas. He loved to share stories with anyone who would listen.
He is survived by his wife, Waneta Weis; his mother, Gwendolyn Unfred; his children, that he loved with all his heart, Chase Weis, Coe Weis, Zoe Brichalli and Zane Weis, his siblings, Pam McCurry, Chris Lansing and Brett Weis; his stepchildren, Rabekka Parshall and Trevor Parshall, and his grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence McCurry; a stepfather, Darrold Weis; one sister, Lisa McCurry, and one stepsister, Candy Weis.
Cremation is planned with a celebration of life service to be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Steven Weis Memorial Fund and left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
