Verta M. Riniker, age 93 of Manhattan, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the Lyle House at Meadowlark Hills.
She was born on September 16, 1924 in Riley, the daughter of Ben and Isa Mable (Bates) Dallinga.
On December 12, 1942 in Manhattan, she was married to Samuel F. Riniker. He preceded her in death in 2012. Samuel and Verta were the owners of the first fifth wheel camper sold in Riley County in 1972. They enjoyed camping for 30 years and toured all 50 states.
Verta was a seamstress, working at home for 30 years and also at Clothes Tree and G.T.M. She was a member of the Sedalia Community Church, Rebekah Lodge, Silver Creek Beneficiary Club, CiCo Sunflowers Club, R.S.V.P Volunteer Program and life member of the American Legion and V.F.W. Auxiliary.
She is survived by four daughters, Judith Ann Butler and husband Rodney of Silver Lake, Eileen King and husband Douglas of Manhattan, Carol Riniker of Arkansas and Corrine Fehr and husband Leslie of Junction City; eight grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald, Delmore and Dale Dallinga and one sister, Helen Dallinga.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Larson officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in the Riley Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for the Sedalia Community Church and Lyle House Activity Fund at Meadowlark Hills. Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
