Ward Wilson Seaman, age 96 of Riley, Kansas, died Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at the Leonardville Nursing Home.
He was born on January 15, 1917 in Mattoon, Illinois, the son of Vernon LeRoy and Grace (Wilson) Seaman.
On July 4, 1936, at Mattoon, Illinois, he was united in marriage to Helen May Shriver. She preceded him in death on October 20, 2007. They moved to the St. Louis area and settled in Ballwin, Missouri before moving to Riley nine years ago.
He was a machinist for Wainwright Industries for 40 years and retired in 1979. He was a member of the Valley Park United Methodist Church, Methodist Men, American Free and Accepted Masons Valley Park Lodge No. 629, Order of Eastern Star Kirkwood Chapter #358 and loved bowling.
He is survived by one daughter, Marjorie Palmer of Riley; two sons, David Seaman of Sunrise Beach, Missouri and Dennis Seaman of Cottleville, Missouri; one sister, Floretta Rodebaugh of Mattoon, Illinois; nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Robert Seaman and two brothers.
A graveside service was held on Friday, October 11, 2013 at the Sedalia Cemetery northwest of Manhattan with Pastor Kevin Larson and Rev. Erich D. Schwartz officiating.
A memorial has been established for the Leonardville Nursing Home and Valley Park United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley, Kansas.
