Willie Gibson

Willie Otis Gibson, age 82 of Riley, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at the Good Shepherd Hospice House.

He was born on February 13, 1938 in Timberlake, South Dakota, the son of Maybell Gibson.

On December 19, 1959 he was married to Donna Lee Davis. She preceded him in death on June 11, 2006.

Willie was a farm laborer for the majority of his life. He enjoyed working at the Riley City Landfill, visiting with the people that came with their grass clippings and tree limbs and taking his dogs to run.

He is survived by one daughter, Vaughan Lee Gibson of Riley; four sons, Brandon Del Gibson of Riley, Jeffrey Otis Gibson of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Kenneth Lee Gibson of Hays and Edward Otis Gibson of Hays; six local grandchildren, Myia Gibson, KyMara Gibson, William Gibson, Kyia Gibson, Lacey Gibson and Zadyn Gibson and several other grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Donna Gibson, he was preceded in death by his mother, Maybell Masson and one son, Shane Del Gibson.

A private family graveside service will be held in the Home Sweet Home Cemetery near Lebanon, Kansas. The family will have a Celebration of Life service for him at a later date.

A memorial has been established for the Willie Gibson Memorial Fund.  Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
